Unscripted Australian East Coast Road Trip

It’s been awhile since I’ve taken a decent holiday in my home country – Australia. Considering so many Europeans, Americans and increasingly South Americans fly great distances and pay hefty costs to visit Australia, I really should check it out myself and find out why so many grab a car and head up or down the Australian East Coast on the road trip.

I don’t want this to just be any ordinary road trip though. (That would make for dull reading) so there will be rules, and the rules are;

1. No planning anything more than 1 day in advance.

I want this to be as unplanned and open for opportunities as possible. Fortune favours the brave and I want to leave the door open to fait as much as possible.

2. No telling accommodation / activity operators about this blog.

I want the experience to be the same as what any other customer would experience. I’m paying my way and do not want any special treatment

3. I will do any (reasonable) recommendation received .

Leave a comment here or on this Facebook post to let me know what you think I should be doing up and down the East Coast.

4. No Shaving.

I need to look like the bearded hipsters in Byron Bay and a 5 day growth is a reminder that work is far far away.

Let the games begin.

Days 1 & 2. Newcastle – Myall Lakes – Coffs Harbour

Days 3 & 4. Coffs Harbour – Yamba – – Byron Bay

Days 6 & 7. Byron Bay

Days 8, 9 & 10 – More Byron, The Hinterland, Nambucca and Forster
